The only time Chloe the sailor's b i t c h (the forum will censor that word) complains is when I use her as a 'righting bag' when I hang her over my shoulder to right the boat!
I've had several dogs of varying weights/sizes for different types of weather. The older, bigger ones have shuffled off the planet now and I am down to Chloe who has to brave the heavy weather as well as the light. These dogs belonged to other people and I felt I was doing a…

Saw some great footage and reports from the Lake Eyre regatta last year. So I was wondering does anyone have some information on this year's event?

The Lake Albert Classic at Meningie South Australia on Sunday 11th of March was brilliant fun in around 2ft chop, plenty of wind and sunshine. We were 5 minutes late getting to the start line with the race start downwind on a 12 km spinnaker run to the Granite Boulders that stuck out of the water which we were warned to give a wide birth as it was shallow, once around the Granites on to the two on the wire heaps of downhaul upwind leg Steve Kroon and Tim Short on F18 Infusion…

Considering the weather forecast for the weekend indicated no wind for Saturday and too much wind on Sunday for the Lobster Regatta at Lacepede Bay Sailing Club in Kingston SE it was amazing to have 23 catamarans and 4 dinghies attend.
When sailing started at 11am Saturday in around 6 knots for a light first race, it was a glorious sight to see the most boats on the water along our coast since 1989 in an event that continues to grow. Once the close race finished at 12.30pm the local…

G'day we've got a couple of Hobie 18's on our coast at another club the sailors have never known how to set the boat's up. When I visited last week one had soft and one had hard diamond wires could someone give me simple specs on mast rake, rig tightness etc. I'd like to get them more competative and perhaps get them sailing more. They are coming to our Lobster Regatta races this weekend and I would like to tune the boats then.

Milang to Goolwa 2012 race as seen by Jeff and Maeve Southall on their Nacra 5.8 in the Catamaran section.
The race started on a hot day with a slight breeze, we chose to wear wetsuits so we wouldn’t get sunburn but we did get very hot. We also chose to not use our spinnaker as there were two other Nacra 5.8’s racing as well as the other cats with none using spins except the Yvonnes. The breeze was deceptive, by looking at the 170 monohulls that started there looked to be enough wind…

The wind gods were unkind in the morning race sessions. A Nacra 5.8 and an A Class drifted to the start line and the other boats didn't quite get that far. No wind anywhere. The morning session was cancelled and everyone got a tow back to shore.
The afternoon…
