Milang to Goolwa 2012 race as seen by Jeff and Maeve Southall on their Nacra 5.8 in the Catamaran section.
The race started on a hot day with a slight breeze, we chose to wear wetsuits so we wouldn’t get sunburn but we did get very hot. The Milang Regatta Club held the November Club Race which attracted 2 Taipan 5.7’s, 2 Taipan 4.9’s, 2 A Class and Sarah’s bargain priced Paper Tiger that she purchased for free!
The wind was fairly gusty and appeared quite strong watching from the shore. Roger and Ginny went out in the Rescue Boat to set the course for the 11:30am races. The sailors sat on the banks watching and were a bit apprehensive of the conditions.
Roger and Ginny came in and advised the wind was…

The wind made this years 63 km Goolwa to Meningie race held on Saturday 19th November 2011 a fairly quick affair because the wind direction made the course a fairly direct course on Starboard with the first tack at the half way point when we got to the Narrung ferry in the Narrows, two quick tacks to get past the ferry, back on to starboard through the narrows and 8 tacks on Lake Albert to get us home to Meningie, the quickest boat a Taipan 5.7 catamaran did the race in 2hrs and 55…
